چکیده

The binding energy of three identical bosons is estimated by coupled differential equations which generalise the Feshbach–Rubinow approximation. This method turns out to be rather efficient, especially in the limit of vanishing binding.

Resonant Feshbach scattering of fermions in one-dimensional optical lattices

We consider Feshbach scattering of fermions in a one-dimensional optical lattice. By formulating the scattering theory in the crystal momentum basis, one can exploit the lattice symmetry and factorize the scattering problem in terms of center-of-mass and relative momentum in the reduced Brillouin zone scheme. Within a single band approximation, we can tune the position of a Feshbach resonance w...

Bosons and Fermions near Feshbach resonances

Near Feshbach resonances, n|a|3 ≫ 1, systems of Bose and Fermi particles become strongly interacting/dense. In this unitary limit both bosons and fermions have very different properties than in a dilute gas, e.g., the energy per particle approach a value h̄n2/3/m times an universal many-body constant. Calculations based upon an approximate Jastrow wave function can quantitatively describe recent...

Dressed Feshbach molecules in the BEC-BCS crossover.

We present the random phase approximation (RPA) theory of the Bose-Einstein-condensation-Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer crossover in an atomic Fermi gas near a Feshbach resonance that includes the relevant two-body atomic physics exactly. This allows us to determine the probability for the dressed molecules in the Bose-Einstein condensate to be in the closed channel of the Feshbach resonance and to ...

Production of cold molecules via magnetically tunable Feshbach resonances

Magnetically tunable Feshbach resonances were employed to associate cold diatomic molecules in a series of experiments involving both atomic Bose as well as two spin component Fermi gases. This review illustrates theoretical concepts of both the particular nature of the highly excited Feshbach molecules produced and the techniques for their association from unbound atom pairs. Coupled channels ...

Superfluid transition temperature in a trapped gas of Fermi atoms with a Feshbach resonance

We investigate strong coupling effects on the superfluid phase transition in a gas of Fermi atoms with a Feshbach resonance. The Feshbach resonance describes a composite quasi-Boson, which can give rise to an additional pair-ing interaction between the Fermi atoms. This attractive interaction becomes stronger as the threshold energy (2ν) of the Feshbach resonance two-particle bound state is low...
